D4Science World User Meeting - 'Event of the week' on the latest iSGTW
The D4Science World User Meeting is the 'Event of the week' on the latest iSGTW, the International Science Grid This Week.
iSGTW is an international, weekly, on-line science-computing newsletter that shows the importance of distributed computing, cloud computing and supercomputing. It does so by reporting about the people and projects involved in these fields, and how these types of computing technologies are being applied to make scientific advances., providing weekly news from the worldwide scientific grid computing community.

Release of the version 1.5 of the gCube software
The new version of the gCube software, version 1.5, has been released on 20 November 2009. This release consolidates the previous version. It adds new functionalities and includes a number of improvements related to the system stability.
Some of the key aspects are:
- Release of a new sub-system called "Applicaton" shipping the new "AquaMaps" service and portlet. "GPod" service and portlets, previously available under Content Management, have been moved inside this sub-system;
- Release of a new sub-system called "Broker and Matchmaker" including services enhancing dynamic deployment in the gCube infrastructure based on packages' software and hardware requirements;
- gCore container upgraded to version 0.5.2;
- a new gCore distribution (version 2.0.6) has been included in the release due to the above gCore upgrade and changes in some enabling services;
- Improvement and patches in other sub-systems: Application Support Layer, Content Management, Index Management, Information System, Messaging, Portlets, Search and VRE Management; and
- Upgrade of third-party software.
