8th Workshop on Aspects, Components, and Patterns for Infrastructure Software (ACP4IS 2009)

Start: 02/03/2009 End: 02/03/2009
Event locationTown: Charlottesville, Virginia
Country: United States of America

The 8th Workshop on Aspects, Components, and Patterns for Infrastructure Software (ACP4IS 2009) will provide a highly interactive forum for researchers and developers to discuss the application of and relationships between aspects, components, and patterns within modern "systems infrastructure" software: e.g., application servers, middleware, virtual machines, compilers, operating systems, embedded systems, web services and other software that provides general services for higher-level applications.

D4Science paper on "Matchmaking for Covariant Hierarchies" will be presented.

Abstract:
We describe a model of matchmaking suitable for the implementation of services, rather than their composition. In the model, processing requirements are modelled by client requests and computational resources are software processors that compete for request processing as the \emph{covariant} implementations of an open service interface. Matchmaking then relies on type analysis to rank processors against requests in support of a wide range of dispatch strategies. We relate the model to the autonomicity of service provision and briefly report on its deployment within a production-level infrastructure for scientific computing.
