Release of the 2nd version of the D4Science production infrastructure
The D4Science Service Activities team is pleased to announce the availability of the second version of the D4Science production infrastructure. This upgraded version supports a new scientific user community: the Fisheries and Aquaculture Resources Management (FARM) represented by FAO and the WorldFish Center.
Three Virtual Organizations (VOs) are part of the infrastructure: the Environmental Monitoring (EM) user community has access to the EM VO while the FARM user community has access to the Fishery Country Profiles Production System (FCPPS) and Integrated Capture Information System (ICIS) VOs. With the availability of this infrastructure new Virtual Research Environments can now be created to satisfy the needs of the distributed scientific communities represented in the project.
The infrastructure is based on four sites: CNR (Pisa, Italy), ESA (Rome, Italy), NKUA (Athens, Greece), and UNIBASEL (Basel, Switzerland). These sites provide approximately 80 processor cores and run the latest release of the gCube software developed by the D4Science Joint Research Activities team and the gLite middleware as released by the EGEE project.
For more information about this important milestone, please access the production infrastructure via the D4Science portal at: http://portal.d4science.research-infrastructures.eu. Currently only project members can access the D4Science production infrastructure by completing the registration form.
