D4Science present at the joint 4th EGEE User Forum/OGF25 & OGF-Europe's 2nd International Event

D4Science was present at the joint 4th EGEE User Forum, OGF25, and OGF-Europe 2nd International Event held in Catania (Italy) from 2-6 March 2009. The event gathered people from the EGEE and OGF communities and helped in promoting the relationship and collaboration on a European and global level between different research communities while driving forward the evolution of distributed computing and open standards. The conference covered a wide number of aspects not only related to grid computing but also to cloud computing or even green IT.

D4Science had a strong presence at the event being actively involved in a number of different sessions:

  • OGF-EUROPE: tutorial about "How to make sustainable a grid-enabled e-Infrastructure";
  • OGF25: talk and panel discussion at the "OGF Digital Repositories" workshop;
  • OGF25: talk at the "Databases and metadata on the Grid: tools and communities" session;
  • 4th EGEE User Forum: participation on the demo competition showing the "D4Science Monitoring Tool";
  • 4th EGEE User Forum: talk about "D4Science Approach Toward AquaMaps Richness Maps Generation".

Besides the participation to different sessions the project was also present in the conference with a booth. The space hosted the "D4Science Monitoring Tool" demo and provided more information about the project (poster and brochures). The GridTalk team also produced a video of the D4Science Technical Director.

The participation of D4Science in different sessions shows a solid involvement of the project in different areas ranging from sustainability to user communities applications, digital repositories, etc.
