D4Science at DL.org 1st face-to-face Functionality Working Group meeting

DL.orgThe 1st face-to-face meeting of the DL.org Functionality Working Group took place on 29-30 June 2009 in Athens, Greece. George Kakaletris from the University of Athens (NKUA) presented D4Science, with particular emphasis on its perspective on functionality of Digital Libraries, its vision and the tools it offers to support and promote interoperability among information systems of the domain.

The mission of the DL.org Functionality Working Group (WG) is to discuss the most important interoperability issues related to the functionality domain that emerge when implementing large-scale digital libraries.

The objectives of this 1st face-to-face Functionality Working Group meeting were to:

  • reach an agreement on the mission and scope of the group and specify a set of the most important interoperability issues pertaining to the functionality domain;
  • collect a list of approaches/solutions that can be applied to the abovementioned issues;
  • to specify and reach an agreement on a workplan.
