D4Science 8th Technical Committee Meeting in Budapest (Hungary)
The 8th Technical Committee (TCom) meeting took place between the 14-18 of September 2009 in Budapest, Hungary. The meeting was organised by 4D SOFT Számítástechnikai Kft (4DSoft) at the Lions Garden Hotel in Budapest.
A D4Science TCom event is a face-to-face meeting which aims to collectively address any technical issues that arise along the course of the project and to define a concrete plan to properly deal with them. It is open and flexible, i.e. besides technical partners the whole consortium is potentially invited to attend dependent on the topics to be discussed.
This TCom event primarily focused on (i) analysing the current status of activities and planning of coming activities, (ii) reporting on the status of the major ongoing development activities, i.e. Time Series support, gPod integration and AquaMaps enhancements and (iii) gathering feedback from User Communities resulting from their exploitation of the available Virtual Research Environments and the supporting technology.
The meeting consisted of 50 slots, some of them occurring in parallel, and discussing the following topics:
- gCube technology for gPod: status and plans;
- gCube technology for Time Series management: status and plans;
- gCube technology for biodiversity and species distribution maps production: status and plans;
- gCube Technology: latest development;
- gCore 0.6.0;

- gCube Release Plan;
- gCube Monitoring Tools: status and enhancements;
- gCube Testing: activity results;
- Production Infrastructure: status and plans;

Together with the TCom event, a Project Executive Board (PEB) took place. During this meeting work package leaders discussed about some aspects related to the D4Science World User Meeting (25-26 November) and also about the overall status of the activities resulting from the TCom.
10 out of 11 participating organisations joined the event with a full total of 24 persons in attendance.
