More Exposure for gCube in the Humanities: demonstration and talks at DH2010 and OR2010"

Now data-complete and running the latest version of the system, the gMan VRE in the Ecosystem VO has showcased the facilities that gCube has to offer to researchers in the Humanities at two key fora in the field.
Held at the King's College London (KCL) this year, DH2010 is annual joint international conference for digital scolarship in the Humanities sponsored by the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organisations(ADHO) , an umbrella organisation whose goals are to promote and support digitally-based research and teaching across the arts and humanities disciplines. gMan has been demonstrated by Tobias Blanke and Mike Priddy of KCL during the virtual part of the conference, with a walk-though that illustrated core VRE functionalities as well as data import and VRE on-demand deployment procedures.
OR2010 is the 5th international conference on Open Repositories organised by FECYT, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology. Held in Madrid with over 400 attendees from 36 countries this year, the conference brings together individuals and organizations responsible for the conception, development, implementation, and management of digital repositories, as well as stakeholders who interact with them for achieving the widest possible integration in theoretical, practical, and strategic matters. Mark Hedges from KCL gave a talk entitled "From research data repositories to virtual research environments: a case study from the Humanities", in which he overviewed the notion VRE and VO upon which gCube is built and in terms of which D4Science is deployed, as well as the goals and activities of the gMan VRE.
In both events, the presenters have reported significant interest from the audience and have described the demonstrations as a great success.
