D4Science at EGEE'09 Conference
The D4Science project actively participated in the EGEE'09 conference held at the Hotel Barcelo Sants in Barcelona between the 21 and 25 September 2009. The conference was attended by more than 630 delegates from many different countries and focused on the future of grid computing in Europe and in particular the plans towards the new European Grid Initiative (EGI).
Five members of the D4Science consortium attended this international event, including the Project Director, the Technical Director, user community representatives and operational staff. They contributed to the conference agenda with 1) a Session and 2) a Demonstration.

D4Science Training on Infrastructure and Virtual Organisations Management
The D4Science Training on Infrastructure and Virtual Organisations Management will take place at ESA/ESRIN premises on the 7-8-9 October 2009.
The 3-day event will cover all steps required for the creation of a distributed e-Infrastructure, starting from basic machine resources deployment to the instantiation of a Virtual Research Environment.

D4Science in EGEE'09 News release on 'Global grids tackle global science'

Presentation to FishBase Consortium meeting
Two project members of the D4Science communities, Marc Taconet and Nicolas Bailly, attended the annual FishBase Consortium meeting, hosted by FAO from 7 to 9 September 2009. As part of this meeting, a traditional half-day symposium provided opportunities to FishBase members and the host organization to present the status, issues and prospects related to aquatic animals biology, ecology and biodiversity information.

Fishbase consortium meeting 2009
The 2009 Fishbase consortium meeting was held in FAO.
The consortium meets once a year. Half-day was dedicated to a mini-symposium providing opportunity to Fishbase members and the host organization to present status, issues and prospects related to aquatic animals biology, ecology and biodiversity information.

Next week D4Science will actively participate in the EGEE’09 Conference and will present a demo on ‘A Virtual Research Environment for Species Distribution Map Generation and Management’.
